What I'm teaching in February: The Essentials of Naming
Get a full view of what makes a name a good name, and how an ideal naming process should run.
The Essentials of Naming covers exactly what its name promises: The essentials.
I designed this class to be a high-level view of the whole naming process, paired with lots of really practical information you can apply in your everyday work, right away.
Deciding what was critical was tough, but I got it down to:
What a name is (or can be)
What makes a name a good name
A roadmap for most naming journeys
Ways to improve your naming skills
There's group discussion, a sample walkthrough of what it all looks like in practice (if you know me, you KNOW the fake company we name is an oatmeal company), and a Q&A throughout. You'll get a crash course in what it takes to name something well, and the chance to talk about how to put it into action.
If you only have the time or budget to take one naming class, this one will give you the best survey of what MUST (or at least really really should) go into your naming project if you want it to be a success.
Plus, you get two workbooks that support the class content and help you build your own good naming habits.
If you or someone on your team could benefit from getting smarter about managing naming conversations with clients, and avoiding some of the major pitfalls that come with saying yes to naming something and then figuring out how it all works on the fly, the Essentials of Naming is here.
I'm offering it as two 90-minute classes (the scheduling link will say three hours, but it’s three hours total), with some homework in between.
You can take it across two mornings:
February 7, 8:00–9:30 am + February 14, 8:00–9:30 am
Or across two evenings:
February 21, 6:00–7:30 pm + February 28, 6:00–7:30 pm

Happy naming!
