Big Names in Naming: Season 4 preview
People names. Pharmaceutical names. Panty names? That's right. They do it all.
Howdy, namerinos!
I’m sorry. That’s not how I talk. I’d written, “Hey, namers!” and I didn’t like that and this was the first alternative my brain produced.
I just wrapped a fresh season of interviews with **ALL KINDS** of namers, and I can’t wait to share the episodes with you starting next week. Here’s a preview of what who you’ll get to meet:

The Foundations of Naming self-guided class series is finally here—take one class to troubleshoot a naming weak spot, or the complete series to round out your naming practice.
Brad Flowers: Brad runs Bullhorn in Lexington, KY, and literally wrote the book on naming (it’s called The Naming Book). Here’s a fun clip of us playing Defend! That! Name!, where Brad effortlessly convinces me that Long Shot is a total slam dunk of a name for a meditation center.
Rob Meyerson: Rob runs Heirloom and the podcast/blog How Brands Are Built, and he also wrote the book on naming (his is called Brand Naming: The Complete Guide to Creating a Name for Your Company, Product, or Service). Rob and I talk about his upcoming project, traits that make namers successful, and other dorky namer stuff 🤪.
Hannah Emery: You know how everyone asks namers whether or not they name kids? Hannah actually does that! She runs Janus Name Journeys and names people. It was so fascinating to learn about her work.
Orlaith Wood and Jamie Thorp: The first duo ever to join the podcast, Orlaith and Jamie both work for the terrific verbal agency Reed Words. We talk about using AI to put your existing naming work to use in more practical ways than I normally hear creative folks discuss.
Scott Milano: Scott is the founder of the naming studio Tanj. You may have seen him pop up in your LinkedIn or TikTok feed with his excellent short-form naming content. During this episode, Scott gave his current self some advice from his younger self that’s still kicking around in my brain (it’ll make sense when you hear the ep).
Jenna Wise: Jenna is an Associate Creative Director of Verbal Design at Addison Whitney. We talk about pharmaceutical naming (there’s a reason it’s all so “weird”) and Addison Whitney’s AI platform, Ari, which supports smarter name-making in the complex world of pharma.
Episodes start next week! Share with a friend who should hear this season <3
Until then, happy naming!
Caitlin
