Naming swipe pile: Butt stuff edition
A new series where I share screenshots I've amassed on a naming topic or theme
If this post is too juvenile for you, fear not: I’m not moving away from more serious naming advice here. I’ve also started a new newsletter through my naming studio, Wild Geese Studio. It’s focused on naming decision makers at large enterprises, but there is plenty of good naming advice for all over there: Subscribe to The Naming Playbook.
***All self-guided class sales from now through February 28, 2024, will go to Direct Relief’s California Wildfire Response***

My desktop isn’t for the faint of heart
I’m pretty organized, with three exceptions:
My laundry pile (I blame jiu jitsu)
My backpack (filled with beef stick wrappers and loose antihistamines)
My computer desktop (wanna see?)
What if I told you I’ve only had this computer for five weeks?
I love love love love love my screenshots. And some of these screenshots? You’ll love them too.
As I do research for client work or for Big Names in Naming games, I compile the interesting things I find. As part of this new series, I’ll share my favorites with you.
I hope they tickle your fancy.
So, for this volume, we’ll start with butt stuff
Researching Big Names in Naming games takes me into the nether regions of the USPTO. I found these registrations while trying to find companies whose ~true nature~ was surprising given its name.
I found nothing for the show, but many names I’ll treasure for the rest of my life.
Enjoy!
I want to add the little salute emoji after each of these as a sign of how much I respect them.🫡
“In the nature of prank…” is poetry.
Please note: This appears to be a name for a candle.
I always do…
Do you think they know each other???
This makes me think it’s poop.
I always do!
I love this and think it’s a good name. The registration is just from this past October so I can’t find the brand yet, but I’ll keep an eye out!
Jeffrey Guse has a niche!
Great use of the asterisk.
DTC, take me away!
Well, shit. Happy naming!
Caitlin

All typos are left in to humanize me 🤪
So just to be clear, these folks were afraid someone would copy their ideas?
LOL And this is why we all love you. Doing God's work, for real.
